The Poinsetta Fountain

November 29, 2006

Downtown Howell has the neatest poinsetta display, so I couldn't resist bringing Maddy down there in her Christmas outfit to get some pictures. Today was absolutely gorgeous out (about 67 degrees), so it seemed like the perfect opportunity. My mom and I brought her down there and here's what we got...

Christmas Tree Shopping

November 27, 2006
Maddy's First Christmas Tree

Tonight we went Christmas Tree shopping. Actually, all we had to do was drive less than a mile and pick out a precut tree off of a lot. It should only take 30 minutes or so right? Not.

Well here's a picture of Maddy before we started...

Here's a picture of Maddy by the time we picked one out...

Jason and I walked around searching for the perfect tree for about an hour. Maddy got a little bored looking at tree after tree, so she took a nap. Can't say she enjoyed her first experience Christmas tree shopping. We had to find the perfect tree for Miss Maddy. Our night didn't end there...on the way home we got pulled over by a cop. Jason had a tail light out. There we were, the three of us packed into Jason's pickup with our Christmas tree in the back, pulled over by the police. How could you give us a ticket? We just got a warning and went on our way...what an experience for Maddy's first trip Christmas tree shopping. :)

Maddy's First Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!
November 22 - 26, 2006

Maddy spent her FIRST THANKSGIVING in Wisconsin with her cousins, Izzy and John V, auntie Aundrea, uncle John, grandpa Kriegl, mom, and the entire Coon family. Janet Coon hosted a wonderful thanksgiving dinner, as always (this year I actually got to enjoy it), and we had a great visit with everyone. It was Maddy's first time meeting all of the extended Coon family...she sure fit right in with all the kids (7 grandkids). I was truly thankful this Thanksgiving for having Maddy in my life! She turned 5 months on Thanksgiving day.

This thanksgiving trip welcomed a few big milestones for Miss Maddy! First of all, she mastered the art of sitting up unsupported. She can now reach for toys and books on the floor without falling over. Yeah!

The greatest part of the trip, however, was Maddy's recognition of her cousins, Izzy and John V, especially Izzy. It was so much fun to watch her interact with the two of them. She fell in love with Izzy from the moment we arrived. Maddy continuously would reach out to touch Izzy, and her face would just light up whenever Izzy was around. Izzy was such an amazing big cousin.

She would play outside with Maddy in the grass (note the unbelievably beautiful weather)...

She would push her around in the stroller...She would read books to her...
She even took baths with her...

Izzy would sing and dance for Maddy...continuously making her laugh. It really meant a lot to me to see Maddy's admoration for Isabelle. They are going to have a ton of fun growing up together. John V and Maddy didn't make such a strong connection. They basically accepted each other's presence, but didn't form much of a relationship beyond that. John V really didn't want to share his mom, or his sister for that matter, with his cousin. We did manage to get a few hugs out of him for Maddy though. :)

Our trip to Wisconsin also involved making a visit up to Kimberly to finally meet Maddy's newest friend Ava Grace VanCamp. We had a great time with Ava and Casey. Ava is still really small, especially compared to Maddy...but she is doing great, which is such a blessing. It was the first time Casey and I were together as moms...kinda weird! Maddy and Ava have a lot of fun camping trips in store for them in the future.

Maddy's Nanny

November 11, 2006

Grandma Simone has been living with us for about a month and a half now with a month and a half to go. Maddy and Grandma have been having a good time together while Jason and I are at work. We will forever be grateful for my mom's help. Maddy will not be in daycare now until she is 6 months old. She has gotten the well-needed one on one attention during these crucial early months of her life thanks to grandma. We will never let Maddy forget that Grandma Simone took 3 months out of her life to be her nanny.
Thanks Grandma
