Happy Thanksgiving!
November 22 - 26, 2006
Maddy spent her FIRST THANKSGIVING in Wisconsin with her cousins, Izzy and John V, auntie Aundrea, uncle John, grandpa Kriegl, mom, and the entire Coon family. Janet Coon hosted a wonderful thanksgiving dinner, as always (this year I actually got to enjoy it), and we had a great visit with everyone. It was Maddy's first time meeting all of the extended Coon family...she sure fit right in with all the kids (7 grandkids). I was truly thankful this Thanksgiving for having Maddy in my life! She turned 5 months on Thanksgiving day.
This thanksgiving trip welcomed a few big milestones for Miss Maddy! First of all, she mastered the art of sitting up unsupported. She can now reach for toys and books on the floor without falling over. Yeah!
The greatest part of the trip, however, was Maddy's recognition of her cousins, Izzy and John V, especially Izzy. It was so much fun to watch her interact with the two of them.
She fell in love with Izzy from the moment we arrived. Maddy continuously would reach out to touch Izzy, and her face would just light up whenever Izzy was around. Izzy was such an amazing big cousin.
She would play outside with Maddy in the grass (note the unbelievably beautiful weather)...
She would push her around in the stroller...
She would read books to her...
She even took baths with her...
Izzy would sing and dance for Maddy...continuously making her laugh. It really meant a lot to me to see Maddy's admoration for Isabelle. They are going to have a ton of fun growing up together. John V and Maddy didn't make such a strong connection. They basically accepted each other's presence, but didn't form much of a relationship beyond that. John V really didn't want to share his mom, or his sister for that matter, with his cousin. We did manage to get a few hugs out of him for Maddy though. :)
Our trip to Wisconsin also involved making a visit up to Kimberly to finally meet Maddy's newest friend Ava Grace VanCamp. We had a great time with Ava and Casey. Ava is still really small, especially compared to Maddy...but she is doing great, which is such a blessing. It was the first time Casey and I were together as moms...kinda weird! Maddy and Ava have a lot of fun camping trips in store for them in the future.
