The weekend of the 10th we headed up north to celebrate Jaelyn's 5th birthday and also have our annual pumpkin carving contest. Jaclynn will catch up with that post later, but seeing it's Halloween, we thought we better get the pumpkins up for viewing.

Mylee Eats Cereal

As if the weekend of Mylee's baptism and Jason's induction wasn't special enough, Mylee turned 6 months on her baptism day and therefore was ready for solid food. So that night when we returned home from DeWitt we decided to let her try out some rice cereal. Here is the footage and some photos to document Mylee reaching this milestone.

As you can see from the videos, Mylee's first time eating cereal was rather entertaining. She would open her mouth to eat off of the spoon and appeared interested, however not much made it to her belly...actually a lot made it to her belly but none to her stomach. She just wasn't sure how to swallow and pretty much pushed the cereal forward back out of her mouth rather than back down her throat. Every once and awhile she would swallow some though and do the shimmy shake. We just loved it...too cute! I let her play with her bowl afterwards just to let her have fun with it and since she was a mess anyway it really couldn't hurt anything. Needless to say she went straight up to the bath tub after this feeding. This is such a fun milestone, but also one that brings along a lot of frustrations.

Mylee's Sacrament of Baptism

On September 20, 2009, our sweet Mylee Jo was baptized. She was baptized at Jason's hometown church in DeWitt, Redeemer United Methodist Church. It was a very special day for Mylee, who of course was perfect through the entire service and made us so proud. She was quite adorable during the actual baptism as she looked up at Pastor Rod as if she was listening to everything he was saying about the sacrament of baptism.

We were very lucky to have Mylee's godparents and my family travel far distances to be there for her. Casey (her godmother) and her family drove eight hours from Green Bay, Ben (her godfather) flew from North Carolina, and my parents and auntie drove eight hours as well from the U.P. to be there for the weekend...it was truly special.

It was a great morning, except for the fact that Maddy was up during the early morning vomitting all over Nancy's bed. The flu had be circulating at daycare that week so we actually keep her home with my mom instead of going there one time a week as she had been doing, it hopes we would avoid the plague. However somehow she still managed to get it. We had to take her to the bathroom about 4 times during the church service because she felt sick, but luckily she didn't. So that was sort of a damper, but we managed.

After church, we had a small brunch at Nancy's house to celebrate both Mylee's christening and Jason's induction. It was a another beautiful fall day with delicious food and fabulous company. Thank you Nancy for hosting the brunch and for all the yummy food. It was great way to end a special weekend for our family.

Uncle John's Cider Mill

After Jason's Friday night induction we stayed in DeWitt for the weekend with Nancy as Mylee was getting baptized there on Sunday. Saturday was another beautiful day so we decided to head out to Uncle John's cider mill where they were having a huge craft show. My friend Casey and her family where in town with us for the baptism too so we all went to the cider mill together for cider and donuts. As Maddy and Ava weren't really up for the craft show we took the kids to the play area instead while my parents, aunt, and Nancy went shopping. We decided to at least take the tractor ride with them to the craft area though. It was a great day spent with family and friends. Maddy and Ava are both extremely active little girls, which for those of you who knew Casey and I as kids, it shouldn't be a surprise. They were loving the giant sand pit and the teeter-totter. It was a great fall day to be outside. That evening Jason and Cory went to a bonfire at the Drayton's but Casey and I were exhausted and needed to get the girls to bed as we needed to be up early the next morning for Mylee's baptism. What a great day!
