Baking with Mom

Maddy Marie "The Baker"

Maddy helped me make some cheesecake and key lime margarita pie for our Cinco de Mayo party at our house this weekend. She was such a big helper!

So as you can tell from the pictures, Maddy made herself useful by cleaning the utensils and bowls for me when I was done with them. So Maddy "The Baker" should be better known as Maddy "The Utensil Licker"! That's fine with me... as long as she stays busy and out of trouble, it's help to me!

Splash N' Play

Yesterday morning I decided to take Maddy and Kendal to the Hartland pool for the toddler splash n' play hour. It was yucky weather out so I was looking on the internet for something to do with the girls for the morning. At about 10, I found that there was a toddler open swim at the Hartland Aquatic Center from 10:30 - 11:30. So I called Marnie to see if Kendal wanted to come and then quickly loaded up our gear, picked up Kendal, and went to the pool. We got there just in time for it to start. I realized as soon as I got there that I remembered everything for the girls including their new life jackets, but forgot my swimsuit. Ugh! Oh well, that just meant I had to roll up my pajama paints and get a little wet. We had a blast. Kendal was a bit hesitant but she loosened up some after watching Maddy rolling around in the water and going down the slide. They both were so well behaved, thank goodness. I'm glad I remembered the life jackets though, otherwise they might have swallowed a bit of water. Maddy, especially, as she was laying in the water constantly. She did really well with the life jacket and figured out that she could float in it and roll over onto her knees to get up if she fell. She was a bit to0 confident sometimes though. Kendal was much easier to keep an eye on.

Do we have to get out?

Warming up (Kendal nice cleavage!)

After swimming, we had lunch together at Subway. The girls again were great and ate really well. It was so much fun. Everyone kept asking me if the girls were twins...it was cute. So it was a great morning!

Spring Fever

Kendal, Maddy, and Ben

Is it summer yet? The other night we got together over at the Abbotts to celebrate Sarah's birthday before they left for vacation. The kids were trying out their sunglasses in hopes that it would bring some warm, sunny weather back our way. We were so spoiled in the beginning of April with all the nice weather thats its hard to deal with this cooler, rainy weather. Although we sure do need the rain.

Janice and Saint's Surprise 30th Anniversary Party

Last weekend we went to Lansing for Jason's Aunt Janice and Uncle Saint's Surprise 30th Anniversary party. We had a great time visiting with all of Jason's family and the food was all so delicious. Maddy had a blast hanging with her nine boy cousins. She definitely holds her own being the only girl and fits right in with the boys. The weather was a bit chilly with the wind but that didn't stop all the kids from running around the back yard while Jason was tending the grill. I unfortunately didn't get the camera out right until it was time to leave so I didn't get a group shot of the kids. I did manage to get a few cute ones of Maddy and Lane together. These two get along so good for being 2 years apart. They play well together and Lane takes good care of her. He even helped her down the stairs when it was time to go.
