Mylee - 6 months

Okay so I am going to go out of order just to get this post up before Mylee turns 7 months. I know I am horrible with keeping up with this but I promise to sometime in the near future catch up.

Anyway, so what was Mylee up to and doing from 5-6 months??? Well, it seems like she changed quite a bit during that month time frame. As I mentioned at the start of the month (5 months old) she really started sitting up on her own, so this month she has spent a lot of time on the floor sitting up and playing with all her toys. She'd sit in front of the TV and watch cartoons for awhile too. My mom said she loved Sesame Street in the mornings. She really figured out how to pass things back and forth between hands and put things in her mouth. Its great because she could really entertain herself for a long time sitting up and playing. She still enjoyed her tummy time and learned to get her butt up and her knees underneath her, but not really up on all fours yet.

She became Miss Serious all of sudden around this stage. She still was extremely laid back and such a fantastic baby, but she became very difficult to get to smile. She would just look at you like an idiot while you would sing, play peek-a-boo, or talk in a high voice to try to get her to smile. Here are the 6 month pictures to prove it...not a single smile!

Notice the scowl

Why are you jumping around like a fool mom???

You are really starting to annoy me!

Okay so you're almost funny mom.

Almost got a smile

Finally... a smile... when we take away the sign and get Maddy and MJ join her

At the beginning of last month, Mylee developed a horrible cough at night time. It didn't sound like croop but it was keeping her up at night. It started with a cold and runny nose while we were home for Labor Day but once the cold cleared up the cough persisted. I decided to get her into the doctors because her chest was real rattly when she breathed and she just wasn't sleeping. They put her on amoxicillin for 14 days, which really was a waste. Take a look...

it was impossible to get her to take it. So frustrating! So the needless to say the cough still to this day wakes her up at night. We found that giving her a pacifier has helped though. Whenever she wakes up crying we run into her room and pop in the paci. This was the time frame when she really started to like the paci. It helped a ton on the long car ride home over Labor Day. We thought maybe it felt good on her gums because maybe she was teething...but still no teeth!

Mylee with her paci

After our long trip up north for Labor Day, our travelling really slowed down so we didn't feel so overwhelmed and were able to get into a better routine during the week. Mylee started napping regularly with two good 1-2 hour naps up in her crib. You could just lay her down with her paci and blankie wide awake and she would put herself to sleep. So sweet!...and then wake up talking...ahh! She still slept from about 9 pm to 8 am, but as I mentioned would wake up coughing quite a bit. She really has spoiled us...far too easy going...we're blessed!

Hey Jaclynn - checking in from the Spindler blog =) Just had to say the antibiotic video is hilarious...so reminded me of Ellie when she was little - we'd have to stick the syringe way back in her mouth so she wouldn't spit it out. And then it got me thinking about eye drops - even worse! Thankfully we haven't had to do either with Emmit yet, but I'm sure our time is coming sooner or later. Hope Mylee is feeling better now!
