Mid-September, Marnie and I took the girls, Kendal and Maddy, in for their first hair cuts. We went to a small family salon to Marnie's stylist and had the girls all excited for their trims. Kendal went first so that Maddy could watch, which ended up not being a smart choice. A piece of advice for mom's in the same situation...have the kid who will most likely freak out go first. You would have thought that watching Kendal get her hair trimmed first would have showed Maddy how easy it is, especially since Kendal did awesome...but no, it made her scared and she started crying and saying how she didn't want to get her hair cut anymore. I'm not sure if it was the scissors or what that scared her. Anyway, being the mean mom that I am I didn't let her wuss out and forced her into the chair tears and all. I let her hold my hand and after a few cuts the tears stopped and Maddy found it to be pretty fun. She listened great to the stylist and held real still the entire time. I was so proud of her and Kendal...they did great and where so excited about their new hair cuts. I thought it was a nice complement when the stylist said that Maddy reminded her of a miniature Reese Witherspoon. I think its the blonde hair and cheek bones.
