Our Christmas Tree

The weekend after Thanksgiving we went to the Knights of Columbus to get a Christmas tree. We like getting our tree there as it is just down the road, the tree is only $20, and the money goes to a good cause. We try to get the tree right after Thanksgiving so we have some time to enjoy it before we take it down on Christmas Day to travel up north. This year we unfortunately picked a very dry tree. It was dropping needles by the pound daily. I swear we had a vacuum every day and by the end of the month the tree was pretty bare of needles. It didn't help that the tree was in the front window, which is where the dogs like to look out so they knocked a lot of needles down. Ugh, what a mess...still so worth it having a tree to enjoy. Maddy loved the lights on the tree. She made sure that we turned the lights on as soon as it got dark out. She would say, "Mommy, its so pretty! The tree is beautiful." Too sweet!

Since Jason spent most of his free time working on the basement from Thanksgiving into the first few weeks of December, Maddy and I had to put the lights on the tree together without him. She was a big help and really enjoyed helping mommy! We waited a few days until Jason could join us the trim the tree. We enjoy going through the ornaments together and reminiscing the story behind the ornament. It was especially fun this year telling Maddy the stories behind the ornaments and showing her the family ones with her name on it. I unfortunately did not get a picture of the finished product. Sorry.
